Dead Man's Chest (2006) deserves to be recognised as THE gold-standard for visual effects in film. More than a decade later; and it still champions the majority of movies releasing. A prime example of how a studio swung big and made bold choices without compromising the craft of the art.

Davy Jones alone is an achievement in technical cinema. His character design is flawless. I have yet to see the likes of him represented in the same way - while a couple films come close (such as LOTR or Infinity War/Endgame); Dead Man’s Chest’s vfx have proven to be truly timeless. There is not one point in the film where my suspension of disbelief was compromised.I was dead-convinced his character was a combination of animatronics/makeup and masks, but the fact that he’s entirely computer-generated speaks volumes to the incredible craftsmanship of the animators and artists who worked on these films.https://preview.redd.it/hjwkg3tr80z41.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=283cc1fa1b9c35f8e39101f86fc9ebbbbcae7e7ehttps://preview.redd.it/3b2nl3tr80z41.jpg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7ebfa0b06e4a36fece9fc9cee835ccfacfc08c35https://preview.redd.it/gbv3n2tr80z41.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1dfa6680390287156a25894c2d6c240096914293https://preview.redd.it/ibl8x2tr80z41.jpg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f9c8db90a918d101b07f9d393e39ca25860221c2https://preview.redd.it/w842v3tr80z41.jpg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c17ca68688c4d566dfbd859a5dbef166f3d70a0ehttps://preview.redd.it/fumza8tr80z41.jpg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b5058f537536da1ecccde609591f04d9c5f9229ehttps://preview.redd.it/ydd3hwvr80z41.jpg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c099b599d1361990423ae6b072151ca58baa0c9chttps://preview.redd.it/p2ncvytr80z41.jpg?width=3419&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=be549487b2a44bfbe97000a8818c63b5e58d55bbhttps://preview.redd.it/ac0phfwr80z41.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4dda6fdc4d6b496132d854f44250698ac61941a1https://preview.redd.it/07joactr80z41.jpg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e67a984eeb28cd5fbb52bbd9ba6ed23e5a58d04ehttps://preview.redd.it/ydzxz1ur80z41.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=e5a995c46fd62fd4f4a628c844dc223bd8a8cf11https://preview.redd.it/zy6nebtr80z41.jpg?width=1503&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6ff41c087465ab1ac3d39cbb3aedfeb4d5ada58fhttps://preview.redd.it/x7n2jatr80z41.jpg?width=1580&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=556f9d583e1a6041f08a28b3c44786be6bce17a9 via /r/movies https://ift.tt/361ZskO
