Why were 90s blockbuster movies so slimy?
I was thinking about some of the biggest hits from the 90s (Jurassic Park, MIB, Godzilla...) and realized almost all of them feature copious amounts of slimy goo being thrown around. I thought it interesting as the amount of goo in blockbusters has gone down since then substantially... Wonder what was going on in the studio meetings? Were there execs who sent back scripts with "needs more slime" scribbled on script margins? Was it a creative choice? Did the people watching the movies dig it?
